YAHAnet Art Contest - Winners Announced!

To celebrate the launch of YAHAnet (Youth, the Arts, and HIV & AIDS network) and the 2008 International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, an exciting new contest was hosted by YAHAnet to promote further dialogue and expression around HIV & AIDS.
THE CONTEST:
Applicants had to submit an original work of art (visual, performance, or text) that was a reflection on the question: “If you know a practice or behaviour could put you at RISK of contracting HIV, why would you do it anyway?”

Please note: There were no submissions to the Performance category, so there are only two contest winners instead of three.
We received excellent submissions for the contest, and ALL SUBMISSIONS will be featured on our website in the near future! We are currently undergoing site maintenance and upgrading our site, but we will notify all submitters when we have posted their work. Winners will be contacted soon with prize information.

Concours artistique de YAHAnet - Annonce des gagnants!

Pour préparer la conférence sur le Sida 2008 à la ville de Mexico, YAHAnet (réseau pour la Jeunesse, les Arts, le VIH et le SIDA) recherchait des oeuvres artistiques faites par des jeunes au sujet du RISQUE dans leur vie.
LE CONCOURS :
Créez une oeuvre qui répondrait à la question suivante : Si une personne est au courant des risques de contraction du VIH, pourquoi serait-elle prête à courir ces risques quand même?

YAHAnet Art Contest: Calling all artists who want to make a difference! (DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 29!)

THE VOICE OF YOUTH: AN ARTISTIC COMPETITION TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT HIV & AIDS
New HIV & AIDS global networking tool, YAHAnet, hosts contest in conjunction with the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City
YAHAnet (Youth, the Arts, and HIV & AIDS network) is a new webtool that provides youth groups from around the world with an online showcase for their artistic messages about HIV & AIDS and a forum for related discussion. YAHAnet is equipped with video, audio, and image galleries, a social networking component, up-to-date information on social behaviour and medical research, material on ethics and gender-based analysis, information on how to use the arts for social change, and an interactive section with interest-generating surveys and quizzes. The webtool was developed by a team at McGill University in partnership with the University of Toronto and the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa with the financial support of UNESCO.
To celebrate the launch of YAHAnet and the upcoming AIDS 2008 conference in Mexico City, an exciting new contest is being hosted by YAHAnet to promote further dialogue and expression around HIV & AIDS.
First-place winners in each category will receive a $100 prize, and all winners will have the honour of being announced in August 2008 at the first international AIDS conference ever to be held in Latin America! Top contest entries will be prominently displayed in the Featured section on the YAHAnet website!
THE CONTEST:
Studies show that despite near universal knowledge of HIV and prevention methods, many people still engage in unsafe sex and drug-use practices. The YAHAnet contest challenges youth to create an artistic work that expresses their thoughts and feelings on the role RISK plays in daily life.
To participate, applicants must submit an original work of art (visual, performance, or text) that is a reflection on the question:
“If you know a practice or behaviour could put you at RISK of contracting HIV, why would you do it anyway?”
ANYONE IN THE WORLD BETWEEN THE AGES OF 12 AND 30 CAN SEND IN SUBMISSIONS IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, OR SPANISH.

Concours artistique de YAHAnet - à tous les artistes qui veulent faire un différence! (PROLONGATION DE L'ÉCHÉANCE!)

Pour préparer la conférence sur le Sida 2008, YAHAnet (réseau pour la Jeunesse, les Arts, le VIH et le SIDA) recherche des oeuvres artistiques faitent par des jeunes au sujet du RISQUE dans leur vie. Des études montrent que malgré une connaissance commune sur la prévention du VIH, de nombreuses personnes ont des rapports sexuels non-protégés et partage des siringues pour les drogues.
LE CONCOURS :
Créez une oeuvre qui répondrait à la question suivante :
Si une personne est au courant des risques de contraction du VIH, pourquoi serait-elle prête à courir ces risques quand même?
CRITÈRES D’ENTRÉE:
Vous pouvez présenter autant d'oeuvres que vous le désirez dans les catégories suivantes : art visuel, art de scène et écriture.
- Vous devez avoir entre 12 et 30 ans
- Indiquez votre nom, adresse, courriel et le message que vous voulez faire passer
- Indiquez un titre et le message que devrait faire passer l'oeuvre
- Les images envoyées par courriel ou sur disque doivent être aux formats JPG. Les vidéos et audio doivent être d'une durée de 2-3 minutes et accompagnés de leur scripte. Les ouevres écrites ne doivent pas dépasser 300 mots et peuvent être en anglais, français ou espagnol.
